Introducing The Hummer Heritage Collection

The Hummer family has been hauling freight over long distances in the trucking industry for over 70 years. Don Hummer learned the commercial truck business from his father, Buck, who hauled livestock for family farms, packing plants, and auctions throughout the Midwest. Current President Chris Hummer grew up riding along with his father Don before earning his CDL and beginning his trucking career with Don Hummer freight hauling services.

Don and Chris wanted to find a way to celebrate the Hummer family legacy, Hummer’s incredible drivers, and the history of trucking. Inspiration struck in the form of Truck #51, the first truck Don drove when working for Buck.

"Currently [my dad] Don is in the process of restoring the first truck he drove for his dad [Buck], a 1972 Kenworth K100 cabover, unit number 51," said Chris. "It is really the last of Grandpa’s trucks that are left." 

Don’s restoration project was the catalyst needed to take the idea from dream to reality, and the Hummer Heritage Collection was born.

This trucking fleet is made up of several Kenworth W990 semis painted to reflect iconic trucks. We selected the Kenworth W990 for its blend of retro styling, modern comfort, and high performance. Each truck features a one-of-a-kind- paint job inspired by the many iconic tractor-trailers that appeared on TV and in movies during the Golden Age of Trucking.

Don Hummer Trucking Company is proud to celebrate and honor the legacy of trucking and our trucking professionals through the Hummer Heritage Collection. Company drivers at Hummer are eligible to be assigned one of these trucks, and winners are selected each year during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
